But there’s an undercover Boss
We’ll “all” see from our knees
And He’ll reveal His former place
When known as
“least…of these”

At the time of this offering there is a trifle of a show called, “Undercover Boss.”  The premise: A business big wig descends (in costume of the common) from his lofty perch and rubs elbows with the lowest of the low…in his company.  Much like Edward, in Mark Twain’s entertaining piece, “The Prince and the Pauper,” for a very brief time the mighty CEO pretends to be a new employee (cameraman in tow for a ‘documentary’) and thereby sees the foundation of his business unfiltered by the inevitable Yes-men who congregate in middle management.  The show is entertaining, endearing and, from my decades long association with corporate compassion; more fairytale…than fact.  Not to say that there is not the potential for caring interaction.  But this is an individual thing; hardly the top-down edict of the heartless organism where “process”…always, always, trumps…people.

Concerning the King in beggars clothes, there’s a scripture that comes to mind.  Matthew 25:45 says, “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’”  You see, all around us…He is there.  In the unlovely, the imperfect, the unpolished, the unprofessional, the unpopular…He is there.  In the poor, the prisons, the prostitutes…He is there.  In hovels and hospitals…He is there.  And the question is…what will we do with Him? For Him?  Yes, the CEO of the Universe is among us...and the camera...is rolling.
