The Fear of the Lord...is the Beginning of Knowledge (Proverbs 1:7)

The Need
(by R.P.Edwards)

Shelter
Food
Water
Air
Essentials of life
For minimum…care
But more than these
A child’s “must”
To learn of God
And in Him…
Trust

Alright, I hear via the tube and inter-tube, that the Texas Board of Education is mulling over the textbook suggestions made by the latest crop of educational “experts.”  It has national attention because, for some reason, in the area of textbooks, “as goes Texas, so goes the nation.” And, as you can imagine, there’s a bit of a controversy about what is “put in” or “left out.”  Business as usual.

Listen, if you’ve read this blog for any length of time you know of my jaded view when it comes to the Ivory Towers, and those birthed of them.  Therefore, when textbooks are written in “secularville,” that’s what you get.  Yes, you are served a main course of no-godism, with a side of superstition to assuage the ignorant (us).

Bottom line: if you are a Christian and want your child to have a basic Christian view of things; by all means…get them out of the public school system.  Now, I could argue the “beginnings” of education and the Bible’s prominent place.  But those days are long gone.  So, if you want Johnny or Jill to have a better chance of being grounded, stable, secure, in their Christian faith…then seek out a private institution, or Home school.  And, as far as Public Schools are concerned, rather that weary yourself trying to maintain the meaning of “Christmas” in the classroom, focus your efforts, rather, on the most equitable use of your tax dollars…vouchers.

In case you’re interested, here’s a link to the Texas Education Agency, which has the lowdown on the coming textbooks. Texas Education Agency

That’s what I think.  How about you?  Click comments below…and say.
