Jesus paid it ALL
(by R.P.Edwards)
Not just a portion
Not just a slice
Not just a corner
Trying to be nice
Not just a finger
Not just a drop
Not just a moment
And then it will stop...
It shouldn't be controversial, but it often is. What? The notion that Jesus; the one whom scripture declares is "the same yesterday and today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) is not in the healing business anymore. Oh sure, we'll often acknowledge that perhaps sometimes, on special occasions, healing will be granted. But for many, the time of miracles has passed. No longer necessary.
Well, there are many books on the subject and it's certainly worthy of a deeper dive (just ask google for a listing of "Christian books on divine healing"); but let me finish this simple offering with two pertinent thoughts: 1. In Isaiah 53 it is pointed out that the Lord not only bore our sins, but also our sickness and pain. We usually have no problem accepting the "sin" removal part, but let's begin to "believe" that our wonderful Savior ALSO bore our sickness and pain. And 2. In Mark 1 a leper timidly asks of Jesus, "If you are willing, You can make me clean." The scripture then says Jesus was "moved with compassion" and said, "I am willing; be cleansed." So the question to be answered is: Is Jesus less compassionate and willing now? Of course not.
The poem continues:
...But the Lord gave Himself fully
He gave simply all
To remove from God's ledger
Our debt from the fall
Every sin in its vileness
Every sickness and pain
All the curse came upon Him
Oh, praise to His name!
