Northern Ireland, STAND!

Northern Ireland, STAND!
(by R.P.Edwards)

Northern Ireland
Make your stand
Your neighbors, all
Choose sin
They murder children
In the womb
Their own demise
Begins
So, be that lighthouse!
Be that Rock!
Defender of the few
And as your neighbors
Slip towards hell
Perhaps they'll turn
To you

When we Americans think "Ireland" (speaking, of course, of only those Americans who think like me), we think of the large jagged Island just to the left of England. If we think a little deeper (which we sometimes do) we skip past the cursory thoughts associated with the place (the color green, the pint of Guinness, leprechauns, the Blarney stone) and realize that there are actually two entities on said island: The Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland. The former, a short time ago, by majority vote, repealed an amendment that protected children in the womb. In other words: the door is now open for abortion, or, as God calls it...murder.  The latter, Northern Ireland, now stands alone in that region in the defense of the innocent unborn. But, predictably, this island within an island is now in the cross-hairs of the ever ravenous God-haters; otherwise known as progressives.

So, as we in the United States slowly come to the realization that human life in the womb is worth protecting and are incrementally working to neutralize the poison unleashed by an overreaching judiciary; it seems on the other side of the pond there are whole majorities gleefully rushing into error and the unpleasant (though presently unseen) consequences that must result. It is my hope, and prayer, therefore, that the people of Northern Ireland stand firm against the unholy tide that is rising against them.

Again, MY position is merely an extension of my sincere, Bible believing, Christian faith. AND, it truly grieves me that the land (Great Britain) that produced so many Christian champions--heroes of the Church that risked so much to spread the gospel to this continent--it grieves me that the "defender of the faith" is now slipping ever deeper into apostasy.

But...there is hope.

Mike Pence, the real deal

Pence
(by R.P.Edwards)

Mike Pence
The real deal
Passionate facts
Not perfunctory spiel
A depth of doing
Of heart and hand
Showing the knowing
Making a stand

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
And before you were born I consecrated you;
I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5 NASB)

When I heard it I took notice; it was a bell-ringer; a whistle to attention; a substantive salute. I'm referring to the above scripture that VP candidate, Mike Pence, mentioned in the debate with his Hillary counterpart, Tim Kaine.

You see, this particular verse is one of the Biblical backers that makes God's view on life in the womb known. In essence, the Almighty says to the prophet "I" made you in the womb; "I" recognized and consecrated you before you were born; "I" had your life already planned out for you.

For the believer who is actually concerned about the Lord's opinion in this area this is a rock to stand upon. The God of the Bible recognizes (and indeed "makes") the person in the womb. From here the Sixth commandment applies, "Thou shalt not murder."

Anyway, the mention of this verse caught my attention for it means the future VP has a depth of faith beyond the hopeful expressions of  "wordsmiths and handlers."  I only hope that other Christ followers dare delve deeper into the Word of God. If they do, their vacillating on the Life issue will come to an end.

Well done, Governor Pence.

Following is a little song that might help the Trump effort.

Abortion is...

Abortion is…
(by R.P.Edwards)

‘Abortion’ is an abstract
A distant, sterile place
 Until you hold a baby
And look into his face
And realize ‘abortion’
Murders such as these
And then the word…has meaning
And drives you…to your knees

It was an unintended crossing of paths.  A veering, a detour, and, if you will…a destiny.  You see, in my humdrum existence I was required by my job “superiors” to attend, this day, a certain function; a function that took me away from my regular work area.  Anyway, having satisfied the requirement I prepared my ancient 10-speed for flight and, alas…I had a flat.  Well, since the cavalry was only a short drive away, I called, requested a lift, and added… “Meet me in front of the abortion clinic.”

Imagine this:  Imagine a facility that has killed more Americans than died in World War I, Korea,Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan…combined.  Imagine a place; a place nestled in a State (the Land of Lincoln, no less) that, by its loose and uncaring legislation says “Come; come and kill,” and, as a result…they do.  From hundreds of miles away they come; by the tens of thousands, they come.  And this, this facility, falsely named “Hope” welcomes them; welcomes their money to relieve these “parents” of their children that have so inconvenienced them…by living.

Anyway, I walked the short distance to the slaughterhouse and there, as they have been for so many years, were the intercessors, the go-betweens, the “last chance,” the compassionate, the vilified, the demonized…the “Jesus” on the sidewalk:  Angela and Daniel Michael.  Consider, this couple and their family (with the sporadic aid of others) have, year after year after year, stood and pleaded for the lives of the innocent, and offered aid to the troubled women who have been driven to the point of infanticide.  Consider, often suffering vile attacks by word and deed; assaulted, assailed, maligned, slandered, sued, and yet they continue to stand…and plead…and give.  Consider, although blessed with eleven children of their own, they opened their home, yet again, for one more; for a baby unwanted by her mother.  And, what was the message I received in the brief time we had to share a word or two?  Simply this, that a mother of “twins,” this day, would not have them killed. Yes, because “Jesus” was on the sidewalk, this day, she would let them…live.

And so, my little flat tire, my little “inconvenience” caused me to veer into a meeting that would have not happened otherwise.  And, though my passion on the subject had somewhat cooled, it has been nudged, dusted off, brought back into view.  Yes, “abortion” is not just a word…just as “slavery” was not just a word.  It is an act, a vile abomination that has gained the full attention of heaven.  And, dear reader, if we wish to do our nation well, we dare not ignore it.  We dare not…ignore “them.”

Remember Abortion

Under our Noses
(by R.P.Edwards)

Underneath our noses
Underneath our street
Underneath our country’s shoes
Our walking…righteous feet
Hear them from the sewers
The children’s blood
It cries
Begging God for justice
No matter of…the why
Not careful of the reason
Not tender to the need
The done is murdered millions
The innocent…that bleed
So ponder…you who ponder
Before you have your say
Before you cast your ballot
Before your homage pay
Remember He who holds you
That judgment He must mete
For stand, He will
For children
Who plead…beneath the street

Her name is Abby Johnson.  A Christian lady.  Used to be a director at a Planned Parenthood  clinic.  Saw an ultrasound of a baby being aborted.  Changed her mind.  Realized…it was murder.

I would like to write lighter fare, but reminders are necessary.  Like the pesky editorial in the New England journal that, incessantly, reminded those who had never even seen a slave…that slavery existed…and that it was evil.  So too, in our day, abortion--the murder of children--continues to go on, and continues to drag us down into the proverbial pit.

I’ll not waste time by arguing with the non-Christian.  Believe what you will.  But, to the one who names the name of Christ; who holds on to His blood stained cross; who calls upon His precious name…you should pause a moment to consider.  Consider this thing that you unwittingly link…with the lovely.  Remember that there were those who sang the songs of Zion, and then went, with clear conscience, to check on the status of their dark skinned “property.”  However, they didn’t perceive that He; He who they considered “on board” with their aberrant theology; they didn’t realize that “His” aid could not accompany a cause that was not only unjust, but evil. And their decisions, “without” His aid…ultimately brought ruin.

And so, in our day, we have another great sin to contend with; and it again involves the value of human life.  This time, however, the value is not found in servitude…but in death.  And today, as then, there are those who believe that “their” God will sustain and support their cause.

I suppose what I’m saying is this; in all our talking about Tea Parties, and Taxes, and Cap n Trade, and EPA, and Obamacare, and terrorist’s underwear; let us remember that the way out of our modern morass is to sincerely seek and elicit the aid of the one who sees the end, from the beginning.  And, without question, part of that “seeking” is to oppose that which He hates…and cannot bless.  Abortion.

That’s what I think.  How about you?  Click comments below…and say.

Life, Prorated

In His Image

(by R.P.Edwards)

Unique
In His image…am I
Crafted by His hand
A destiny for only me
A solitary plan
So when others say
I have no place
No fitting for their path
They forget the one
Who gave them breath
They forget that He has…wrath

As this is another Sunday posting, I thought it appropriate to continue in the same vein as last week. As you may recall, that offering pointed out how scripture reveals (without much digging) that God views human life in the womb, as just that…human life. I can’t help it if some religious institutions, through some sort of convoluted reasoning, come up with something different. The scripture is clear enough.

Well, the next obvious step is to find God’s view of human life unjustly terminated. What immediately comes to mind is the sixth commandment: Thou shalt not Kill. Or, more accurately, substitute “murder” for “kill.” You can find the list in Exodus twenty and some other places. However, while preparing for this article (briefly) I ran across an interesting verse from Genesis, “Whoever shed’s man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man.” (9:6) Now, I suppose you could use this as justification for capital punishment, but my interest at this time is more to God’s view of His creation. We are made in His “image.” We are special, unique, purposed. And this, dear reader, includes the life in the womb.

Without a doubt, one of the largest stumbling blocks in the abortion debate is our conception of worth. For so long we’ve been told that a baby, one day before birth, is different than a child, one day after, that we start to believe it. We ascribe value to trimesters and terms. Days and months build the baby. However, if we were to use the same reasoning “after” birth (I.e, an infant is less valuable than a toddler, toddler is less than a teen, teen, less than an adult, but greater than senior, etc) we’d be called some sort of heartless fiends. But, don’t you see, when it comes to the human life in the womb…that’s exactly what we do?

To conclude: This blurb is aimed, mainly, at those who profess to trust Jesus as their Savior and believe the Bible is true. I really want all of us, who start at the foundation of the cross, to get on the same page when it comes to this very important subject. I honestly believe that with the fate of the innocent in the womb…so goes the nation. More on that…later.
