Can't be soon enough!

Can't be soon enough
(by R.P.Edwards)

Can't be
Can't be
Soon enough
To end the foolish reign
These who taunt
The founders God
Again
Again
Again
Wise in their eyes
The mirrors view
Ignoring steps and stones
They never cease
"Our" sin increase
And sneer
"What will HE do?"

In the news: the United States "abstains" from, rather than choosing to veto, a resolution by middle-eastern folk who simply hate Israel. It's a first.

The subject was settlements; but since I (and many) recognize Israel as far more than an ethnic aberration (i.e. there's a genuine "God" connection) AND, since they are truly a like-minded ally, "we" have, in the past, supported her in her efforts. Maybe not always agreed; but at least when it came to the useless UN, Israel could count on us. Until now.

I won't go on and on, but let me finish by saying, Thank God! that this current administration, which has NO fear of the Almighty, will soon be relegated to the annals of obscurity. It's one thing when individuals choose the early path of the prodigal, but when "leaders" (or leader) purposely guide the nation towards sin; this is unconscionable.

And, speaking for myself, this kind of moral depravity (taunting God; imagine!) was the main reason to NOT vote for someone in the same mold.

January 20th cannot come soon enough.

Elijah and Mike Huckabee

The Future?
(by R.P.Edwards)

A flash of light
And all is peace
The pundits' pain
By death released
No more offense
By truthful words
Just melting masses
By no one...heard

"...and the man of God wept. And Hazael said, "Why does my lord weep?" Then he answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel..."
(2 Kings 8:11,12)

Elisha was an Old Testament Prophet. He had been mentored by Elijah (of chariot of fire fame) and...as a chosen vessel of the most high...he was sometimes privy to inside information. On this occasion the Lord had given him a glimpse of the evil that would come from this particular man (Hazael). And, of course, it came to pass.

Well, I don't think of Mike Huckabee as a prophet, but he at least has enough sense to see the horrible future that awaits (especially for Israel) if the Iranians get the bomb. He has spoken his mind quite clearly on the subject; complete with a holocaust reference. And my! how the offendable are offended! "How dare he?!" they say, "That subject, sir, is off limits!"

Well, Mike is not backing down; nor should he. And, though the party of infanticide rails against him (along with their Hollywood followers) the coming blast(s), if not prevented, will soon wipe their Politically Correct expression and expressions from their collective incinerated lips.

By-the-way, at this late prophetic date I truly believe the God of Abraham will not allow Israel to suffer extensive harm; no matter WHAT Iran may be packing. It behooves US, however, to stand with the Apple of God's eye. They may not need us; but we surely need...them.

The face of Israel

Must do’s
(by R.P.Edwards)

Wipe your shoes off
On the mat
Brush your teeth
And pet the cat
Pick your clothes up
Tidy be
Daughter, son
Now heed my plea
Look both ways
On a busy street
Take only as much
As you can eat
With lips together
Chew your food
Daughter, son
Now, don’t be rude
Say “please,” and “thank you”
Stay in school
Live your lives
By the Golden Rule
And there’s one more thing
To aid your way
As you do your deeds
As you kneel to pray
Always, always
Daughter, son
Always, always
Never done
Always, always
Always, always
Always, always
Always, always
Always, always
Always, always
ALWAYS!
Support Israel

Now the LORD said to Abram, Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives, And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you, And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.  (Genesis 12:1-3)

Saw the PM of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, address a joint session of Congress a couple days back.  I like this guy.  He’s got the garb of a statesman, but the heart and substance and resume of a warrior.  I liked the message.  Here’s a few excerpts:

“Israel is not what is wrong about the middle east.  Israel is what is right about the middle east.”

“In Judea and Samaria the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers.”

“No distortion of Israel can deny the four thousand year old bond between the Jewish people and the Jewish land.”

Anyway, here’s a c-span link: Address to Congress

For the fun of it I looked to see if perhaps Mr. Netanyahu had been born in the U.S. (in fact he’s the first Israeli PM actually born in Israel).  I figured, since the conservative field for president is in flux, maybe, if he had dual citizenship…he could run.  Nope.

In Defense of Israel

If a Nation Desires Suicide

(by R.P. Edwards)

If a nation desires suicide
If a nation…wants to die
Then, by all means, hurt His children
The apple of His eye
You’ll find each blow you give them
Each hateful, cursing blast
Is returned one hundred fold…until
Your nation’s life…is past.

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, May my right hand forget her skill.
(Psalm 137:5)

You know, as I sit here (the air conditioner buzzing in my right ear and the voices of two of my children speaking an inaudible something in the distance) I feel a bit of a heaviness at the subject. Why is it necessary to even write about the defense…the support…the unflinching loyalty…to Israel? As I’ve said before and I will, most likely, repeat an indeterminate amount of times (your indulgence, please) there are foundations in my life that effect my actions and judgments. My marriage is one such support. The children, another. The duty to country, another. But the foundation below these…and everything else…is my faith. I really do believe that there is a God; that His benevolent hand makes a difference in my life and, I truly believe that His blessing or curse determines whether a nation prospers…or falls. And, one might ask--as far as nations go--what determines his blessing or curse? The answer is simple: deeds.

There’s a profound darkness in the land; a profound shallowness, and callousness…and sadness. For over half a century our society has been pruned, and primed, pulled and pummeled by those who would war against the knowledge of God. Denying, and even rewriting our heritage, they ascribe our greatness to the measure of man, the workings of flesh and, if some would dare cling to the notion of “one nation under God,” they are mercilessly maligned and belittled. And, bad enough that our society is reaping the harvest of the wretched seeds sown, now our curse is made even more sure by pressuring the very land and people whom God promised: “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.” Truly it is insanity. A death wish. A masochistic path born of ignorance and elitism. I don’t know about you, but when I see Israel squeezed and pricked and prodded by their so-called strongest ally…I fear. Yes, for Israel. But I fear even more for my own country. For, regardless of the boastings made by our self-anointed wise men, we must understand--if we are to survive--that our destiny is intertwined with that little plot of land between Egypt and Assyria. That little plot of land where Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob once sojourned. That little plot of land where an almighty God took the form of a carpenter and, with blood and wood…built a bridge…to Himself. Yes, heaven help us if we abandon them. But if we do, rest assured…Heaven, surely, will not.
