If you're going to doubt...

If You're Going to Doubt...
(by R.P.Edwards)

If you're going to doubt
Creation's place
Then doubt the virgin birth
And how the Holy Son of God
Was born a babe on earth
And how He walked with healing hands
With miracles in His wake
And how He died upon the cross
All of our sins to take
Then doubt Him rising from the grave
Never to die again
Yes
If you're going to doubt
Creation's place
Then doubt it all...my friend

Got to see the debate between Bill Nye (the science guy) and Ken Ham (founder of Answers in Genesis) the other day. Bill doesn't like the idea of creation being taught alongside evolution. He believes it warps young minds and prevents fertile intellects from developing into "real" scientists. Mr. Ham disagrees and the two had at it in a rather interesting exchange. Since I too am a "believer" I was solidly in Ken's camp.

Well, after the debate there was reaction aplenty. However, some of the most disturbing came from the Christian persuasion that has tried to reconcile evolution with Biblical beginnings. Now, I certainly don't think adding Darwin's child to one's belief is damnable, but why take the route that God could have made it quick (like the scripture clearly states)...but He didn't?  In other words, why not embrace Genesis as one embraces the Gospels?  For, if evolution--the thought that the upper advancements were made over multiplied millennia of survival of the fittest (i.e. "you die, I live")--then the Biblical foundational truth that death came as a consequence of sin, well, it is weakened considerably.

I must admit, I probably at one point in my Christian walk tried to reconcile the two "worlds." But now, having looked into some of the claims of evolution, I am more confident than ever that it is totally untenable. A good site to begin is http://www.answersingenesis.org/

Here's the debate if you wish. A bit lengthy. Get comfortable...
